Did you know that March is National Nutrition Month? Every year, The American Dietetic Association (ADA) provides information to the public about the importance of fitness and proper nourishment. This year’s theme is “Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle,” and it focuses on regular exercise and making good food choices. This inspired us to think about fitness and how it can be applied to things besides your body…things like your digital marketing campaign. After all, if you think about it, a healthy digital marketing strategy means a healthy business for you, so it’s important to make sure it’s operating at peak performance.
Unfortunately, just like with our own personal diets, it’s easy to start out strong saying you’re going to “eat better” and “get more exercise” and then slowly fall back into usual patterns. We get it! We’re guilty of the same things. But spring is just around the corner, and with it, the chance to get in shape for the spring selling season. Is what you’re saying appropriate for your target as well as where they are in the sales cycle? Are you connecting with them on a regular basis – not too much and not too little? What do you ultimately want from your digital marketing strategy? “More sales” is nice, but break that down to what it means to you. Do you want a 300% increase in ROI? More repeat customers? More referrals? By having clear, tangible goals and a timeline to get there (say, in three months you want to have X more warm prospects), you’ll see more success faster.

Remember when low-fat was all the rage? And then low-carb? And remember how eggs were bad for you and then good for you? Nutritional and health information changes over time, and so does digital marketing – what works right now may not necessarily be the best option. So even when you’re smokin’ hot and converting all the leads, don’t think it’s time to sit back and relax. Keep pushing yourself to be the best you can be through A/B testing, getting insights from real-time analytics and tweaking your tools to make sure everything’s at peak performance.
